The first area of concern is answering install questions. The biggest install problem is with the connection string on the database. These are found in test_connect.asp. The method I use to set up the connection string with the user is listed below.

test_connector.Open "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath("/database/test.mdb")

This is not the only and may not be the best way to connect. It seems to work well for me. Other connection strings I have seen and may need to be used by you look something like this.

test_connector.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=d:\websites\database\test..mdb"

This is where the source listed, is a direct path on your server to the file. If you have problems and neither of the above strings work, please contact me at rhealey@richardhealey.com. I will do my best to get you past any stumbling blocks. If worst comes to worst, I also offer hosting and I know my server works well with Test Builder.

After the connection problem, the biggest question involves how to add and delete, modify users etc. I will go step by step thru all of these options below. As always, if this doesn't make enough sense, please email me at rhealey@richardhealey.com.

Add questions - To add questions, you must be logged in as a admin. Once you are logged in, you will see the admin menu below the main menu. Chose add question (or after adding test you will be taken to add question). There you will enter questions. More on different types of questions below.

Add tests - To add tests you must be logged in as admin. Once you are logged in, you will see the admin menu below the main menu. On this menu, choose the add test button. Remember when adding tests, use letters and numbers, do not include symbols. When you try to delete a symbol, it doesn't work well.

Delete questions - To delete questions, you must be logged in as a admin. Once you are logged in, you will see the admin menu below the main menu. On this menu, choose the edit/delete option. Choose the test you wish to modify and then go in and edit the question you would like to delete. Once the question is up and verified, choose the delete button and it is gone.

Delete tests - To delete tests, you must be logged in as a admin. Once you are logged in, you will see the admin menu below the main menu. Here you will choose the edit/delete option. You must first delete all questions (or move them to another test). Once all questions are deleted, you will be given the option to delete the test name itself. This was done to ensure that you had no lost questions (and prevent you from deleting questions you wanted to save)

Edit tests - To edit tests, you must be logged in as a admin. Once you are logged in, you will see the admin menu below the main menu. When it comes to editing, first you must decide if it is the correct test name. If it is, create a new Test name, then move all questions to that new test.(edit/delete menu, then edit each question, change test name to the new test name and then update question to move it to new test). If editing questions themselves, make the changes you need and then update.

Rename tests - See the above edit tests for description.

Add users - To add users, you must be logged in as a admin. Once you are logged in, you will see the admin menu below the main menu. Choose the add user option. Put in new user name and password. Guest for those able to take tests, but not create or modify tests or admin for those that get full access.

Fill in the blank questions/short answer -When adding or editing question, you will want to add a question, write the question, and then only put text in the fill in the blank slot. All other slots should be left as they were when you first clicked add question. When test is shown, fill in blank question gives question (picture, if that is set up) and then a blank for the fill in the blank. Note: at this time they are case sensitive. This can be changed if you desire, but was set up this way on the request of an individual.

Multiple choice - When adding question, fill out question and as many answers as you want. By removing the n/a you add a choice to your multiple choice. Remember to mark the check box for the correct answer (one answer gives radio button answer, more then one is a check box answer)

Multiple choice, multiple answer - I answered this question in the answer above. If you have more then one answer checked you will have a check box instead of a radio answer.

True/False - This one is simple, create a question with answer of true and false and check a choice that is true.

Pictures for answers or questions - You can insert pictures in the picture folder. Then add them, just the picture name (not the path in the fields for them) on questions and presto you have pictures.

I am sure I have over simplified some of this. Please email me if you have any further questions at rhealey@richardhealey.com or visit my site http://richardhealey.com
